I think of this project as a way for me to map my mind, and create places that I can go to when I need an escape. I have always been interested in patterns, symmetry, and the idea of a “perfect” place. I am fascinated by mysterious settings and places that aren’t as they seem. This process allows me to create my own places to ponder. When I let my mind roam, it usually goes to places in the past that can never be recreated exactly the same again. By constructing these spaces, transforming them with light, and photographing them, I am cementing them in time just as they were upon creation. This is not a perfect place, because no human mind is ever perfect. There are anxieties, negative feelings, and questions that are begging to be answered. If you stay here long enough these problems tend to reveal themselves.
