“In that Darkness Lurks” is a series which aims to give the mundane place a potential for mystery, using photography for its ability to create uncertainty. Inspired largely by horror films, I am interested in the way we can manipulate certain visual elements, such as light and color, to induce a visceral feeling of suspense within an audience. Photography is an art that relies upon signs and connotations, which allow our eyes to translate sight into feeling. The picture plane becomes not only about what you see but what may be hiding beyond those boundaries, beyond those shadows.
