Melissa Calderon's selected body of work explores the idea of photographic images as illusions. The images are constructed of vibrant colored paper made into geometric shapes. These sculptural photographs combined with complex lighting, shadows, and digital manipulation, subvert the space and become confusing in terms of spatial dimensions. Her abstract work is intended to make viewers question their perception.
